About Us

4mywanderlust Productions was started by Barbara Cray in 2008 to try to develop her creative side. Barbara is a preeminent attorney in the San Francisco Bay Area, having practiced there for over 25 years. In addition to a commercial litigation practice, she serves as a Temporary Judge for the Santa Clara County Superior Court, and a federal mediator for the Alternative Dispute Resolution Program of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

But she has always had her creativity: singing in local groups, writing songs, and dabbling in screenwriting and novels. As she entered her fifties, she decided it was time to do something more! Combining her love for travel and her enthusiasm for Christmas, she decided to make her first project about the European Christmas Markets, which she has visited for 8 years in a row, and counting. When in the summer of 2009 she attended the Kingston Trio Fantasy Camp, for her own fun, and to bring back her folk singing past of the 60's and 70's, she had the great fortune to meet the wonderful members and managers of the group, and realize how perfectly folk versions of traditional Christmas music would enhance her show.

And thus the holy trinity, as she calls it, was born in a year: the European Christmas Markets television show broadcast in Northern California in December of 2009, the Kingston Trio album Glad Tidings with the wonderful music created by the Kingston Trio for the show, and as to which Barbara is Executive Producer (and selected many of the songs), and the Kingston Trio concerts produced by 4mywanderlust Productions in December of 2009. A big endeavor for the first year out, but fun and exciting.

After her fast start, Barbara and 4mywanderlust Productions continue to try to keep the creativity going full speed.

For 2010 and 2011, 4mywanderlust Productions has developed a 1/2 hour version of European Christmas Markets, which has been picked up for PBS satellite broadcast by NETA (National Educational Telecommunications Association) and will be shown on most PBS stations for the 2010 and 2011holiday season. Barbara has also filmed Christmas on the Danube and is filming Christmas in Alsace.

4mywanderlust Productions is also in the process of filming and editing a 13 episode television series for a PBS broadcast, World's Most Remarkable Wineries. A work-in-progress show was broadcast in Northern California in October.

On the music side, 4mywanderlust Productions is producing a jazz album, Music to Drink Wine By, which will have music that has also been created to accompany the Remarkable Wineries show.

And as interest increases, so do the projects, including DVD's, CD's, Christmas cards and other Christmas items available for purchase related to the Christmas Markets shows, and travel tours to locations visited on the shows.

On a personal note, Barbara is sometimes assisted by her teen aged son John, whose creative eye helps in the filming of portions of her show, and who helps in other ways, including creating logos and other artistic projects, and offering plenty of criticism (some of it even helpful!).
